Hyundai is preparing to launch its new Tucson SUV in India later this year, and the SUV was spotted testing on our roads recently. While testing Hyundai’s new mid-size luxury SUV Tucson, a lot of noise has been made about its newly updated design. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV has been spied testing again in a completely camouflaged design with an ADAS radar module attached to the front.
Earlier this year, Hyundai showcased its fourth-generation Tucson SUV internationally, which will sit above the Alcazar in the Indian lineup.
The new Tucson will compete in India against the Volkswagen Tiguan, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Jeep Compass.
Hyundai’s new premium SUV comes with five features you need to know.
“Sensuous Sportiness” is Hyundai’s design philosophy.
With its new Sensuous Sportiness design language, the new Tucson is radically different from its predecessor. There are also flourishes of what Hyundai calls ‘parametric dynamics’ on the car’s exteriors, creating a jewel-like effect.
Furthermore, it features the new parametric grille that features half-mirror type LED daytime running lights that are only visible when turned on. In the front bumper, projector headlights are installed below the grille.
On the side, the flared wheel arches and prominent character lines give it a bold appearance. At the rear, the emphasis is on the T-shaped tail-lights linked by an LED light bar that spans the width of the Tucson. In particular, the parametric grille from the facelifted Creta is likely to carry over to other Hyundai SUVs.

Two wheelbase options overseas
Hyundai will offer Tucson a long-wheelbase option in certain markets for the first time. Tucson’s standard-wheelbase model is 10mm longer, 15mm wider, and 10mm longer than the outgoing model; however, the long-wheelbase model is a notable 150mm longer and has an 85mm longer wheelbase. In India, we will only get the 7-seat version of the SUV, which will sit above the Alcazar. In Europe, the SUV is available with five seats.
One of four new Hyundai SUVs this year
Hyundai will launch four new SUVs in 2022, including Tucson. Tucson will be a completely new model, while the other three will be mid-cycle updates.
A facelifted Venue will feature cosmetic changes, and a front end similar to that of the Tucson. Testing of the Venue facelift has already begun in India. A sportier version of the N-Line is also expected with this update. The company’s popular Creta SUV will get a facelift after the Venue. It was showcased last year with Hyundai’s parametric grille.
In India, the Korean brand will launch the new Kona Electric SUV. More equipment and safety features will be included and a sharper design.
Hyundai’s ADAS technology could be in the new Tucson
Hyundai’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is expected to be offered on the new Tucson in India. There are many active safety features such as lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assistance, and autonomous emergency braking with forwarding collision avoidance. Furthermore, the car will have the usual safety features such as ABS, ESP, and airbags. Global NCAP has also given Hyundai Tucson a full five-star rating.
Launch anticipated in the second half of 2022
Hyundai is likely to launch the new Tucson in the second half of 2022. The SUV will compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Jeep Compass when it is launched. Tucson prices are expected to range between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 35 lakh, and it will be imported CKD.
We will likely see Hyundai retain the current Tucson’s 2.0-liter turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engine options.
