If you receive a traffic challan that you believe was issued incorrectly, it’s important to address the issue promptly to avoid unnecessary fines and complications. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to handle a wrong challan:

    Online Complaint Process

    1. Visit the Official Website:
      • Go to eChallan Parivahan.
    2. Navigate to the Complaint Section:
      • On the website, find the ‘Complaint’ option at the top of the page.
      • Click on this option to access the Grievance System page.
    3. Log In to Your Account:
      • If you have an account, log in with your credentials. If not, you may need to register or use guest options available on the site.
    4. Fill in Details:
      • Enter your name, mobile number, and the full challan number.
      • Provide a detailed description of the issue, explaining why you believe the challan is incorrect.
    5. Submit the Complaint:
      • After filling in the necessary details, click the ‘Submit’ button to file your complaint.
    6. Follow Up:
      • Keep track of the complaint status and check for any updates or responses from the authorities.

    Alternate Methods

    • Helpline Numbers:
      • You can also file a complaint through the traffic police helpline number of your area. This might involve explaining your issue directly to a representative.
    • Court Cases:
      • If the challan has been forwarded to the court, you still have the option to file a complaint within 60 days. Provide proof and documentation to support your claim.

    Verification of Challan

    1. Check Authenticity:
      • Before proceeding, ensure the challan is genuine. Visit eChallan Parivahan to verify the challan details and check the relevant sections of the Vehicle Act.
    2. Review Details:
      • Make sure the challan was not issued for a genuine mistake on your part. If you believe it was issued incorrectly, ensure you have sufficient evidence to support your claim.

    Offline Method

    • Contact Local Traffic Police:
      • Visit the local traffic police office or station and discuss your case with the concerned officers. They can investigate and cancel the challan if it is proven to be incorrect.
    • Traffic Police Helpline:
      • Use the local traffic police helpline number to report the issue and seek resolution.

    Important Tips

    • Documentation: Keep all relevant documents and evidence that support your claim, such as photographs of your vehicle, parking receipts, or any other proof that can demonstrate your innocence.
    • Timeliness: Address the issue as soon as you receive the challan to avoid any late fees or additional complications.

By following these steps, you can efficiently handle a wrongly issued traffic challan and ensure that any errors are corrected.
