    Almost every car manufacturer has launched a mid-priced compact SUV in the market, offering the best of both worlds: comfort and style. Compact SUVs are the new members of the passenger mobility brigade in India. In spite of potholes and tricky urban terrain, these vehicles offer the opportunity to drive comfortably. 

    Compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster have established their marks on the market and are very popular with buyers. Compact SUVs feature increased legroom, SUV-like aesthetics, and higher ground clearance.

    It is evident from the increasing number of cars that are clocking prominent figures on the charts that the compact SUV segment is gaining popularity among Indian consumers. Moreover, three of the top 10 cars sold in India in May 2022 were compact SUVs. As a result of this increasing demand, manufacturers are facing increased competition, which often leads to confusion among buyers on which model to buy.     A subsidiary of Hyundai Motors of South Korea, Hyundai Motors India launched the Hyundai Creta compact SUV in 2015, setting the benchmark for compact SUVs in India. The Hyundai Creta is a well-reviewed compact SUV on the Indian subcontinent. On the front, the Creta features a cascade grille, stylish fog lamps, projector headlamps, and ORVMs. The Hyundai Creta is a masculine-looking vehicle with a stylish cascade design grille. There are shark fin radio antennas, split-type tail lamps, and bold skid plates on the rear of the vehicle.

    Renault Duster

The chrome Renault grille, the fog lamps, the skid cars, and the body colour bumpers make up the exterior stance of the Renault Duster. ORVMs, stylish rear lamps, and wipers complete the car’s exterior design.

    The Renault Duster is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine which produces a maximum power of 106 ps and a maximum torque of 142 Nm. There’s also the option of a 1.5-liter DCi diesel engine, which is capable of producing 110 ps and 85 ps. This engine also produces a maximum torque of 245 and 200 Nm.

    Hyundai Venue

    With the debut of the Hyundai Venue in May 2019, Hyundai entered the sub-four-meter SUV segment. Currently, seven variants are available with three engine options, including the E, S, S(O), S+, SX, EX(O) Exe, and SX (O). Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Nexon, and Ford EcoSport are some of the rivals to the Venue. Hyundai Venue’s exterior features include a split headlamp design, LED DRLs, projector fog lights, LED tail lights, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, roof rails, and silver skid plates.

    The Hyundai Venue comes with an electric sunroof, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver seat, Hyundai BlueLink connectivity, wireless charging, cruise control, rear AC vents, and a sliding armrest in the front. Among the Hyundai Venue’s available engines are a 1.2-liter NA petrol engine, a 1.5-liter diesel engine, and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. The 1.2-litre NA version, which produces 82bhp and 114Nm of torque, is only available with a five-speed manual transmission.

    Tata Nexon

    Among Indian cars, Tata has recently joined the design revolution, with the Tata Nexon. Its new design philosophy creates a posh-looking, premium compact SUV with unique road presence. Tata Nexon has a very aerodynamic and stable exterior look and feel. There are chrome Tata grilles, coupe-inspired aerodynamic shapes, ivory white accents, projector headlamps, and rear split LED tail lamps that highlight the front.
