Skoda Kodiaq had a spectacular year in 2021, with the Kushaq propelling the Czech manufacturer’s sales to greater heights. The Skoda Kodiaq, the next made-in-India car from the company, is set to be released in August of this year, but they certainly cannot let the fire die down. So the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq is on its way, and here’s everything you’ll need to know about this upcoming three-row SUV.

    Aesthetic

The Skoda Kodiaq, like other Skoda vehicles, features a classy and luxurious external style. Skoda’s famed craftsmanship can be observed in its exquisite design, precise body lines, and attention to detail in all design components. Furthermore, the Kodiaq’s exterior styling highlights feature sleek LED crystalline headlights, an all-LED tail lamp, and a hexagonal butterfly grille with vertically slats. Chrome window wrapping, stylish alloy wheels, sleek claddings, and silvery roof rails are also exterior-style components.

    Comfort

The new Skoda Kodiaq has class-leading comfort features. A 3-row sitting layout, beige vented leather seats, piano black room decor, interior décor, double stitching on the console, chrome embellishments, and so on are among the interior highlights. Front seats with cooling/heating mode, 12-way electronically adjusted front seats featuring built-in memory, a new-generation navigation system, LED lighting effects, 3-zone Climatronic A/C with air care feature, and a spectacular sunroof are among the other interior highlights.

    Engine & Performance

A modern 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine replaces the tried-and-true 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. On paper, there is a 40-horsepower increase over the previous diesel, but a 20-nm decrease in torque. Is that enough to influence how the Kodiaq moves?

While the diesel engine’s power output feels appropriate for the Kodiaq’s weight, the petrol engine feels superior. It’s not thrilling or exciting, but it’s engaging enough to keep the driver interested. More than power, the engine’s refinement stands out.

The engine is completely silent and only emits a raspy cackle when pushed to the redline. When combined with some fairly thick insulation, the Kodiaq achieves near-electric car levels of quietness at commuting speeds.

Performance comes naturally. It’s not as quick as Skoda Kodiaq’s advertised 0-100kmph time of 7.3 seconds claims. However, you won’t have to second-guess your runs as you did with the diesel Skoda Kodiaq. There’s plenty of power, and the fast and seamless 7-speed DSG means you can get it whenever you want. The Skoda Kodiaq, like the Tiguan we tested, is quite content to eat up kilometers on the highway.

    Ride & Handling

The Kodiaq, along with the Tiguan, provides the most sedan-like ride quality. The Kodiaq’s steadiness and composure are excellent on fast and smooth highways. At the same time, it appears capable of navigating broken roads without causing too much disruption in the cabin. Skoda Kodiaq now has dynamic chassis control. This means that the suspension now has a unique persona depending on the drive mode you’re in. Normal, Comfort, and Sport are the available settings.

While there is no difference between Normal and Comfort, the suspension does firm up in Sport. The twisties are significantly more comfortable for the Kodiaq. It manages to conceal its bulk nicely and almost encourages you to push a little more around the bends. It’s pretty easy to get confidence to do so with excellent steering and well-controlled body roll.

    Safety

Skoda Kodiaq has 9 airbags as standard, as well as ABS with EBD, digital stability control, and a slew of additional safety features. Multi-collision stopping, anti-slip regulation, and hill hold are all included. Hill descent braking and tyre pressure tracking systems are only available on the top-spec L&K model. The global variants of the Kodiaq include a package of ADAS technologies like as lane – keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot recognition, which are sadly absent from the Indian model.

    Space

The cabin may appear to be large at first glance, but the ergonomics are excellent, with lots of seat and steering wheel flexibility. The steering wheel controls and climate control buttons are also easily accessible. The Skoda Kodiaq has plenty of storage space, with twin glove boxes, a huge storage bin beneath the front armrest, and equally useful door pockets. Except for a few tweaks, the cabin layout and design of the 2022 automobile remain the same. The redesigned two-spoke steering wheel is standard on all flagship Skodas. Second, as part of the update, the fabrics for the dash and door pads have been updated.

    Conclusion

Aside from the lack of a diesel version and new-age active safety systems, the 2022 Kodiaq has a few drawbacks. It’s well-made, has a lot of creative features, and has the usual assortment of feel-good luxury kits. The interior is big and really adaptable – the Kodiaq can handle hefty loads or ferry a large family. If road presence and muscular looks are important to you, the Kodiaq is probably not the car for you. However, if you’re looking for a decent all-around SUV, the Kodiaq is an excellent pick.
